Naturopathic medicine follows three principles to avoid harming the patient:

  1. utilize methods and medicinal substances which minimize the risk of harmful side effects;
  2. avoid, when possible, the harmful suppression of symptoms;
  3. acknowledge and respect the individual's healing process, using the least force necessary to diagnose and treat illness.

Education & Biography

Dr. Fuller’s Education:  Dr. Fuller earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology which serves her well as a physician.  After learning that a medical degree exists that emphasizes wellness on a holistic level and incorporates a range of therapeutic options, she completed her pre-med requirements.  She completed 2 years each of basic sciences and clinical courses at Bastyr University, an accredited naturopathic medical school in Kenmore, Washington, that parallel those offered at conventional medical schools.  In addition, her training included study of the philosophy and implementation of safe and effective natural therapeutics which includes but is not limited to botanical medicine, vitamin/supplement therapy, homeopathy, nutrition, physical medicine, and lifestyle counseling.  A perpetual student, Dr. Fuller continues to study holistic health and has additional studies in cranialsacral therapy, nutritional counseling and basic Chinese Medicine assessment skills.

Biography: Dr. Carolyn Fuller received her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University and is licensed as a primary care provider in the state of Washington.  She completed a one year primary care residency at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle, which included rotations at Virginia Mason Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center STD Clinic, and with various naturopathic and allopathic specialists.  A vocal advocate for naturopathic medicine, she has lectured locally and nationally.  Dr. Fuller is currently Adjunct Faculty at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health, the teaching clinic for Bastyr University, where she enjoys supervising student clinicians and empowering tomorrow’s naturopathic physicians.  An avid outdoor enthusiast, organic gardener and cook, she enjoys being active in the great outdoors and creating a homegrown and cooked meal.
